    Douglas C. Searls

    ALBOIN, MI -- Douglas C. Searls 67, of Albion, MI, formerly of Sioux City, IA, died on Tuesday, August 08, 2006 of complications from cancer. A service will be held on Saturday, August 12 at the First Presbyterian Church of Albion at 11:00 AM. An additional Memorial Service for out of town family and friends will be held at a later date.

    Doug was born in Sioux City on May 17, 1939 the son of Gladys (Masteller) and Dwight Searls. Doug attended Sioux City schools, graduating from Central High in 1957 and later attended Morningside College. He served in the United States Marine Corps.

    Doug worked in Sioux City at Swift & Co. and later at Iowa Beef Packing until 1984. He then moved to Manchester-By-The-Sea, MA where he became involved in a variety of small businesses, eventually evolving to a career in small business consulting. He began specializing in internet centered business. In 1996 he moved to Albion, MI and continued to consult, develop, and operate web-based businesses.

    On June 23, 2002 in Albion, following a six year business collaboration and courtship, he was married to Maggie LaNoue.

    He is survived by his wife Maggie and her children Charlie and Linda. He is also survived by two sisters, Barbara Dyer and her husband Jack, Virginia Weaver and her husband Burt, and a brother Rodney Searls and his wife Shirley.

    The family wishes to thank all of those who have offered prayers, cards and kind thoughts during our time of trouble. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the First Presbyterian Church Searls Memorial Fund will be gratefully appreciated.
